Reporting Student Progress to Parents

January 29, 2007

Every fourth week a progress report will be sent home with all students. This report is to monitor your child’s growth toward the learning objectives in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies for the 9 weeks. Parents are asked to sign and return the progress reports to the teacher. All parents of children in grades Pk-6 will be contacted by the teacher at the end of the 1st 9 weeks for an initial parent/teacher conference.

Grades Pk-2

Each 9 weeks, children in grades pk-2 will receive a check list of accomplishments of learning for that period of time. During the initial parent/teacher conference the parent will receive an orientation to the TEKS checklist, a review of your child’s work, summary of your child’s performance on the learning for the first 9 weeks and results on Texas Primary Reading Inventory pre-test.

Grades 3-6

Each 9 weeks, children will receive a number grade for each subject, as per the district grading policy. The numbers correspond to the following:

100-90 = A Excellent performance

89-80 = B Very good performance

79-75 = C Minimal performance

74-70 = D Marginal performance, passing

69 & Below = F Below level performance, not passing

During the initial parent/teacher conference the parent will receive a review of your child’s work and summary of your child’s performance on the learning for the first 9 weeks.

Conferences with the Teacher
The initial parent/teacher conference will be scheduled for parents. However, parents and teachers may conference at any time during the school year whenever the parent or teacher feels that such a meeting would be in a student's best interest. We ask that parents contact the school office to schedule a time that is convenient for the parent and the teacher. 830-365-4009
