2008 4-H District Events Info.

The 2008 Stockshow Season may be over but 4-H events and activities still abound. 4-H members have the opportunity to compete with other 4-H members in the following areas:

 

**Rifle Shooting

**4-H Round-up 

**Livestock Judging 

**Comedy 

**Singing 

**Photography 

** Dancing 

**Horse Show  

**Quiz bowls

**Method demonstrations

**Public speaking

**Clothing/Modeling

** and much, much more!!!

 

The Rifle contest will be held at the Brooks County Airport at the 4-H Shooting range in Falfurrias on Saturday May 3, 2008. 

 

Judging contest and Share-The-Fun Contests will be held on Saturday May 3, 2008 on the Campus of Costal Bend College in Kingsville.   

 

The method demonstration contest will be held on Saturday May 3, 2008 in Kingsville on the campus of Coastal Bend College. Method demonstrations include many topics ranging from beef to computers to food and nutrition. Go to the district 4-H website at http://d124-h.tamu.edu 

 

A Photography contest at the district level will be held for all Junior and Sub-Junior 4-H members ages 8-13. This contest will be held in Alice, Texas however YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO!!!. You can submit your photo entries through the mail for this contest. There are 9 division in 18 classes in which you can compete with your pictures. There is a $5.00 per entry registration fee. Entries must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2008 and counties can submit no more than one entry per division. The district 12 4-H Horse show is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday June 20-21, 2008 at Mercedes. For more information regarding this contest go to http://d124-h.tamu.edu or call the Texas AgriLIFE Extension Service office in Zavala County at (830)374-2883.

 

Texas A&M University Kingsville, is the site for the 2008 4-H Fashion Show on April 26, 2008. This contest is open to all 4-H members who are 8 years old and up to 18 years of age.  Members can make or buy their casual, formal, dressy or specialty garments. The  participants will model their entries for the judges at the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach in Corpus. Seniors advance to the State Fashion Show to be held in College Station, Texas in the summer. If you are not a 4-H member and you are encouraged to join so that you may participate in any of the activities Listed above. To join contact the Zavala County Office of the Texas AgriLIFE Extension Service at (830) 374-2883 in La Pryor you may call Mrs. Laura Davis, La Pryor 4-H Club Manager at (830) 421-2767. Currently there are over 81 4-H members in La Pryor.
