LPISD holds Back to School Community Rally
Celebrating academic success and recognizing our fall athletes and coaches was part of the agenda for the Community Rally that was held to help gear up the community for the new 2010-2011 school year. The rally was held in the late afternoon of August 16, 2010. The community was able to stay after the rally and watch the evening football team practice. As part of the this rally, Mr. Ximenez, LPISD superintendent, briefed the crowd in the area of the the latest 2010 AEIS results that show that as a district La Pryor ISD will be a “TEA RECOGNIZED DISTRICT”.
Mr. Ximenez also pointed out that some of the biggest gains district wide were made in the area of Science with a 29 point increase and also in the areas of social studies with a gain of of 17 points. He thanked all the stakeholders present and mentioned that without their support the LPISD schools would not have been able to make such big gains.
The Board of Trustees were also recognized as well as all district staff before all athletes and coaches were individually recognized. The new band director, Mr. Menchaca, also briefed the crowd on what his expectations will be for this year’s band program.
The 2010-2011 Cheerleading squad was able to open up the second half of the rally after they were introduced by their sponsor, Ms. Perez. Athletic Director/Head Football Coach, Mr. Griffin was able to talk about the football program after he introduced his new coaches. Ms. Lira, head volleyball coach, also introduced some the coaching staff helping out with the volleyball program and that the girls had been working hard to prepare for the upcoming games. Ms. Rangel also mentioned that the cross country teams in the past had experienced good success and that she looked forward to some of the same this year as they will start practice the first week of school.
The superintendent thanked the fans for showing their support for the Bulldog programs as he talked about getting ready to start the new school year, and that the school looked forward to the continued support from our staff and community in working to attain the vision of “An Exemplary School Environment”.
