he La Pryor Bulldogs defeated the Center Point Pirates on Friday night in Center Point by a final score of 57-18. Both teams came into the district opener undefeated. Sage Granado started the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 25 yard run just 3 minutes into the contest. Frank Soria kicked the point after and the Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead. Israel Medina raced in from 24 yards out with 6:56 left in the 1st quarter. Soria added another kick to make the lead 14-0. Center Point countered when Juan Angel scooped up a fumble and ran it in from 35 yards away. This made the score 14-6. Granado added a 55 yard run and Michael Martinez added a 9 yard run also in the 1st quarter. Soria added an extra point in the first quarter. Center Point's Chris Frazier returned a kickoff 94 yards to end the 1st quarter scoring. The score stood at 27-12 in favor of La Pryor.
Each team scored once in the second quarter. Jesus Velasquez caught a 64 yard scoring pass from Israel Medina with 8:19 remaining in the half. Soria added another point after kick. John Wigington ran in from 9 yards out for Center Point. La Pryor held a 34-18 half time lead. The second half turned out to be all in favor of the Bulldogs. Touchdowns by Medina, Granado and Wyatt Howell along with a safety put the Bulldogs in the win column.
The Bulldogs raised their season record to 3 wins and 0 losses, and their district record to 1 win and 0 losses. The next game is scheduled for Friday October 2nd in La Pryor against the D'Hanis Cowboys. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
