Bulldog Country!!

Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year! We are so excited to welcome the students back to school. The new year came up so quickly and it’s an exciting time.

I am so impressed with the level of parent and community involvement so far this year. Working together with the common goal of ensuring our students' success will enable us to work as a team more effectively. The school staff is ready to prepare our students for a global market and with your involvement and support we can achieve it.

Throughout the late summer, we concentrated on ensuring La Pryor continues to be the best choice for your children. Our teacher teams have completed training on instructional strategies, engaging students effectively, curriculum and how to make connections with their students and much more.

I know that many of you have questions about safety protocols.  Although I cannot provide explicit details for security purposes, I would like to provide an overview of the district’s actions so far and plans going forward.

You likely heard in the news this summer that the state has implemented requirements for all school districts to support safe learning environments. La Pryor ISD has proactively carried out a review on the security of our facilities. We will follow all State Standard Response Protocols and ensure as best we can that our district is a safe learning environment.

Some procedures being implemented at La Pryor are:

  • Targeted safety audit, which include door security and best practice procedures
  • Weekly exterior door checks, ensuring doors are properly locked and secured
  • Running practice fire and other emergency drills for each campus to be prepared. The Safety drills will be scheduled throughout the school year for students and teachers
  • Full safety and security audit from an outside source.
  • Fixing/adding 6-foot fencing around the district with additional plans to close the entrances with gates in near future.
  • Additional measures in place, include having two law enforcement officers in our schools every day.

At the center of our work is the success of each and every student. That begins with great teachers, strong instruction, and a curriculum that helps our students. We have a rigorous curriculum at all grade levels and high expectations that students will achieve.

I am happy to share that we continue to find the right teachers and staff; those who love our kids and are coachable, open-minded, perseverant, and adaptable. We strive to build our instructional team to be one that has great heart for our kids, as well as a growth mindset, believing that anything is possible for our students. We continue to hold our staff and students to high expectations because that is what your children and our students deserve here at La Pryor ISD.

I ask for your patience as we make adjustments to secure our school and ensure our students are safe. This will include our drop off and pick up points for cars and buses that may be found online and in our Facebook.

I am excited and look forward to working with our great staff and community!
